The Challenge
IBM required a modernization of its localization supply chain to move away from legacy, supplier-based human translation models which were becoming cost-prohibitive for internal communications. They needed to democratize access to translation for their global workforce, handle complex file types (like PDFs) within daily communication tools, and ensure data sovereignty for high-value verticals like Intellectual Property in the Japanese market.
Our Solution
Straker transitioned IBM from a traditional vendor relationship to a strategic "Build Partner" status. We deployed a custom Straker Slack App integrated with our **Verify** platform, allowing employees to translate text and documents directly within their workflow. Simultaneously, we co-developed "Swiftbridge" and "Verify IP" solutions using **Tiri** models hosted on **IBM Watsonx**, transitioning the commercial model from "price-per-word" to a transparent "token-based" AI billing structure.
The Results
Successfully scaled the internal translation tool to over **12,000 active users** via the Slack App (*Meeting Note: Regular MAT update - IBM, Oct 2, 2025*).
